I transfer mine from the pan to the rack in my toaster oven/air fryer and let it rest/dry for 1-3 min. Thought I was a weirdo but the chopstick method is making me feel better. u/wellrat you my people #nosoggybottoms

In such a weirdo about food I hate the ‘soggy undercarriage’ from steamy sammich too. I tried everything, including walking slowly from to table with my sandwich halves stacked on its crust sides against each other to avoid the steam monster. I finally sussed the chopstick or ‘choostick maneuver’ as it’s been named a few years ago and I haven’t looked back. I figured this move out by accident when I was frying some some food but using chopsticks (or choopsticks if you will) to move food on the resting rack to drain the oil

I just eat mine before it can get soggy.

This is like the third time I’ve seen someone mention soggy grilled cheese on here in a couple of days.
What part of fat + heat are you all getting wrong?
Are you poaching them in milk‽
Edit: FWIW I can tell you for sure it’s both in OP’s case. That bread didn’t get enough fat and wasn’t cooked long or evenly enough. They seem to have just spilt some warm butter on the middle of it and called it a day.

I always make 2 GC’s and lean em against each other on the plate while i wait for my tomato soup to cook.

I do something similar. I use one of my small baking sheet racks on top of my skillet after cooking to rest it.

Okay, for everyone doing this please just do yourself a favor and buy a [baking rack](https://a.co/d/0dhi3v5l). They are cheap and I use mine nearly every time I cook most anything because I hate soggy food.

Poor man’s/lazy man’s cooling rack
Chop sticks are also great for steaming breads over a pot.
